چکیده

Abstract In this study, non-hybrid and hybrid (Kevlar, carbon glass) fabric epoxy composite laminates were fabricated with different stacking sequences by hand lay-up followed hot-compression molding. Experimental tests conducted to investigate tensile, flexural, hardness characteristics. It was found that the sequence did not significantly affect tensile strength values of composites; however, it affected their flexural strength. Damage morphology specimens through SEM images showed major damage mechanisms in composites delamination, fiber breakage, pull-out, matrix cracking. Based on static experimental results, high-velocity impact behavior investigated simulation study using LS-DYNA finite element analysis (FEA) software. To ballistic impact, a steel projectile hemispherical penetrating edge at velocities 100 m.s −1 , 250 350 considered. Among specimens, Kevlar/epoxy specimen have highest energy absorption carbon/epoxy glass/epoxy, respectively. Regarding ones Kevlar plies rear face exhibited better compared other sequences. The glass/epoxy had lowest post-impact residual velocity among all specimens. From FEA noted resistance improved when placed layer. Thus, observed be substantial importance development fabric-reinforced for applications.

aging influence on charpy impact behavior of basalt fiber reinforced epoxy composites

changes in moisture content and temperature can perturb both stiffness and strength and as such the impact resistance of composite structures. in this paper, the pre-notched basalt fibre reinforced epoxy (bfre) composite specimens are studied under charpy impact loads in order to investigate the changes in impact energy absorption (fracture toughness) with different kinds of aging conditions. t...

Damage Assessment in Glass Fiber-Epoxy Matrix Composite under High Velocity Impact of Ice

This study investigated the influence of nanoclay on the impact damage resistance of glass fiber-epoxy composites under high velocity ice impact loading. Addition of 0.5 wt. % nanoclay into epoxy was shown to improve damage resistance compared to composite plates having no nanoclay platelet. The glass fiber-epoxy composites containing nanoclay brought about substantial improvement in ice impact...
